Primary sources

My ten primary sources reflect on indentured servants in America. In my paper I made the comparison about why indenture servitude is still practiced In the country in 2018. I made this comparsion by showing how college football is very similar to indenture servitude. The following sources are connected to that.

primary source 1

This first source is a picture of indentured servants. I used source to put a face to what we are going to be talking about. If you did not know that these were indentured servants. Then you would think that this was a picture of slaves. Which Is why I choose it. Because indentured servitude is a form of slavery.

Primary source 6

These two primary source are example of a indentures servant agreement. I am using these to show that the contract controlled the servant. And the owner controlled the contract. So the owner controlled the servant.

These two sources are advertisements for indentures servants. Indentured servants agree to become servants to have their debt payed. This is called debt bondage and is a form of slavey. I am including this to show ho easy it would to become a indentured servant.

This is a primary source of a map of Virginia. I am including the to show were indentured servants worked in 1680. A lot of my paper is set here. So I though that this would be good to include.

This is a schedule of a football player for the Florida Gators. I used this to show how college athletes had no time for themselves. This chart depicts a 5 hour work day. That leaves these athletes no time for them selves. U sude this to compare to indentured servants work days.

primary source 8

This is a national letter of intent. Or a celebratory form. In my paper I talked about how this is when a athlete becomes property of their school. Once this is signed athletes haver to follow all the rules that come with the agreement. They become owned by their coaches

Two original Primary Sources

I struggled with finding two original primary source. For these two source we had to find two source off campus and not online. This was hard. But I found two good ones.

The first image is a picture that I too on my phone. The picture is of a interview that I watched on CNN at my home in Albany. It was about if college players should get payed. Which talked about there workloads. The second image is of a picture that I took of the NCAA football regulations. I was also in Albany when I went to u Albany to take a picture of this. This Rulebook dictates what player can an cannot do.
